Big news from the barnyard—two new Nubian ladies have joined the herd! Meet Star and Sugar, our beautiful long-eared additions, and quite the pair already. Star is a solid black Nubian with a glossy coat that shines like polished coal and an elegant, regal look that could land her on the cover of Goat Vogue. Sugar, meanwhile, is a lovely light brown and white Nubian whose soft coloring and gentle personality fit her name perfectly.
Now, you might think that with two Nubians this stunning, I’d have a matched set of grace and intelligence. Well… one out of two isn’t bad. Let’s just say Star might be beautiful, but she’s not exactly the brightest bulb in the barn. If curiosity killed the cat, Star’s version would involve getting her head stuck in the fence trying to see what’s on the other side of the hay. She’s sweet, but bless her heart—she’s got the attention span of a gnat in a windstorm.
Sugar, on the other hand, is the brains of the operation. She’s observant, calm, and clearly the one running the show, even if Star hasn’t realized it yet. While Star’s off prancing in circles or trying to figure out why water doesn’t pour uphill, Sugar’s quietly figuring out where the best hay is, how to get first dibs at the grain bucket, and exactly which humans are the easiest touch for a head scratch.
Watching them together is pure entertainment—like a goat version of The Odd Couple. Star brings the drama, Sugar brings the logic, and together they keep the barn lively and my patience thoroughly tested.
Still, I wouldn’t trade them for the world. Between Star’s flair for chaos and Sugar’s calm intelligence, the place feels brighter—and a whole lot funnier. Something tells me this friendship will be one for the farm record books: beauty, brains, and just enough mischief to keep life interesting.
