About American Way Farm
When Jim and I moved from southern New Hampshire to way "up nawth" in 2001, we thought we were just “getting away from it all.” Peace, quiet, maybe a moose sighting or two. We weren’t planning to swap paved driveways for muck boots and birthing kits — but nature had other plans.
The forest here grows fast—trees creeping in like toddlers with peanut butter. To reclaim our view, we turned to animals: pigs and sheep to chew the brush, goats to stir up chaos, chickens for fresh eggs (and daily comedy), and of course, a guardian dog to keep watch. Before long, we had a full-blown farm ecosystem.
That’s when the questions started: “Any extra eggs?” “Do you sell lamb?” “What does goat milk taste like?” And just like that, we found ourselves farmers — not the bib-overalls kind (though Mondays come close), but the hay-in-our-hair, early-morning chore kind. And honestly? We wouldn’t trade it. Even the rooster at 5 AM earns his keep in stories.
This blog is where I share those stories — the funny, the frustrating, and the fencepost-worthy moments of life on the farm. Sometimes the best things in life sneak up on you… hopefully not in the form of a loose sheep.
Thanks for stopping by. I hope you enjoy these tales from the farm — and maybe even laugh a little along the way.
